Bernice’s Bakery expanded in 2025 with a new addition that replaced the former open-air patio, creating 17+ additional seats and improving circulation near the point-of-sale area. The goal was to make the space feel more open and functional while preserving the character customers have loved for decades.

The new addition blends old and new materials, including salvaged brick, carefully sourced replacements, and period-correct masonry details. Bifold windows help the dining area keep the feel of the original patio while offering more comfort and protection from the weather.

Because the bakery remained open during construction, the work required temporary walls, dust control, and off-hour coordination to limit disruption. Inside, restored Third & Myrtle Street signs, vintage-inspired details, and local artwork help carry Bernice’s history into the expanded space while giving the community more room to gather.
