For Christ the King, the work was never just about adding new pieces to the sanctuary. It was about building something that felt like it belonged in the room.
The project centered on three large altar backdrops, known as reredos structures, with a raised stage below the central altar. Our team handled the framing, stage work, sheathing, arch details, baseboards, and custom crown molding that shaped the main features of the space.
The finish work had to be precise without feeling overworked. The arch ribs, custom crown profile, and baseboards were all built and fit to the existing room, with trim carefully scribed throughout the sanctuary and entry. The faux columns, built by Dovetail Furniture Co., fully encase structural posts and give the altar backdrops the scale and balance the room needed.
Church volunteers helped stain finished pieces, allowing more of the project budget to support other parts of the remodel.
This project continues our experience with worship and community spaces in Missoula, including work with Canvas Church and Saint Francis Xavier. The finished sanctuary feels fresh, timeless, and appropriately scaled, bringing a stronger sense of presence to a room at the center of Christ the King’s community.
More photos will be added once the muralist wraps up their beautiful work.
