What began as a major remodel of a 1970s split-entry home evolved into a full rebuild on the original foundation, creating a one-level home designed for long-term comfort, energy efficiency, and age-in-place living.
Designed by Davis Walker Designs and built by Scariano, The High Performance Rebuild was shaped around the client’s sustainability goals and the site’s north-facing views toward open farmland and the Clark Fork River. A tightly sealed envelope, heavy insulation, high-performance windows, double-stud exterior walls, and a south-facing solar array all support the home’s efficient, high-comfort design.
Inside, the home balances modern performance with natural materials and warmer details. Tongue-and-groove ceilings from Glacier Millwork bring texture overhead, while vertical exterior siding from Montana Timber Products gives the home a durable, refined finish outside.
Several of the most personal details came directly from the property itself. Our team milled, dried, designed, and built custom floating shelves and a vanity from a naturally felled tree in the yard, carrying a piece of the original site into the finished home.
The result is a modern rebuild that feels grounded instead of cold, combining high-performance construction, thoughtful design, local materials, and a deep connection to the place it was built.
