Tucked into the existing landscape, The Hermitage Sanctuary was built as a small meditation and writing space for quiet reflection.

At just 100 square feet, the structure required careful planning and precise execution. The space was built around materials that give the sanctuary a grounded, handcrafted feel, including battered Chief Cliff stone walls, teak window and door frames, hand-crafted leaded glass windows, hand-forged iron hardware, and a hand-crimped copper roof.

Inside, radiant floor heat sits beneath a single piece of slate, cut and re-formed to preserve the continuous grain of the stone. The result is a compact, deeply personal retreat that feels settled into its surroundings and built with purpose.
