A successful remodel doesn’t always require a new layout. This whole-home remodel in Missoula’s Riverfront neighborhood gave the clients an opportunity to return to the first home they ever bought after spending years renting it out while living a few states away. When they were ready to make it their own, the goal was to work carefully within the existing footprint—correcting inefficiencies, improving comfort, and making each room more useful.
The house was remodeled throughout without reframing. New insulation, flooring, Marvin windows, ventilation, and fans improved its everyday performance, while a rebuilt bathroom and new kitchen transformed the spaces the clients use most. Restored red windows near the entry preserve one of the home’s original details.
The uneven kitchen required exacting installation work from Linley’s Cabinets, whose team scribed the cabinetry to the existing conditions and built a seating area with concealed storage. Beyond the main house, a detached space previously used as a cycling studio was converted into an office and studio. Together, the updates gave this active, creative couple more from the home they already owned—without adding square footage.
