Just a few blocks from downtown Missoula, this new four-plex was designed to create comfortable, efficient housing with a stronger sense of individuality than a typical multi-unit build.
Designed by JCM Architects, the building includes four separate units with private entries, alley parking, tenant storage, air conditioning, and in-unit laundry. The lower units offer practical, comfortable living spaces, while the upper units make the most of the building’s height with 15-foot ceilings and access from a shared exterior stair and deck.
That upper circulation became one of the project’s defining features, with metal grating underfoot, bold black railings, and an industrial feel inspired by the performance of a ski chalet. Inside each unit, a central bathroom, two spacious bedrooms, efficient kitchen storage, Linley’s Cabinets, and floating shelves help make the apartments feel finished, functional, and easy to live in.
The exterior uses concrete siding for a durable, modern finish, giving the building a distinct presence while supporting the everyday needs of long-term tenants.
